Dear Shawnee Chamber Members,
Happy 2025 New Year! My name is Don Chew, and it is with great humility, honor and excitement that I step into the role of 2025 Chairman for the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce. As we reflect on the remarkable growth of our community over the past several years, I thank the Chamber staff which is led by Ann Smith-Tate and the former and current Board leaders for their vision, leadership, and tireless work as it’s clear that Shawnee is not just a place to live and work, but a thriving hub within the Greater Kansas City area.
I first experienced Shawnee’s success story when in 2018 my employer, PBI-Gordon Companies, Inc., moved our officers from downtown Kansas City, MO., to Shawnee. Ann and her team played a key role in our relocation. We witnessed firsthand collaboration, hard work, and a shared commitment which makes our city a better place for all. From expanding local businesses to fostering an environment that attracts new investment, the Chamber continues to lay a strong foundation for the future. As we move into 2025 and beyond, I am optimistic about the opportunities on the horizon.
I encourage you to maximize the value of your Chamber membership through getting involved with one or more of the many programs the Chamber offers. A few of these programs include AM Connect, Women Inspiring Women, Monthly Luncheons, the Annual Dinner, and Shawnee Tomorrow Leadership. If you are unsure or unaware of how you can get involved, please reach out to Ann or her team at the Chamber’s office.
One of the most exciting developments for our region is the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. This prestigious event will shine a global spotlight on our community, and we have a unique opportunity to showcase Shawnee’s hospitality, culture, and the strength of our local businesses. The World Cup will bring a surge of visitors, media, and attention to Kansas City. As a representative of the local businesses, one of the 2025 focus areas will be the vital role the Chamber can play in this historic event.
I look forward to working alongside all of you and I am committed to supporting our members, advocating for local business growth, and ensuring Shawnee remains an excellent place for residents and entrepreneurs alike.
